The Fossil Gen 6 is the 13th iteration of Fossil’s smartwatch lineup and includes activity tracking goals, hundreds of compatible apps, notifications for calls and texts, and more. The watch is available to pre-order now and will begin to ship starting September 27.  Some notable new features of the Gen 6 include a brighter always-on display with more colors, simplified Smart Battery Modes to better optimize your watch’s battery life, a speaker for taking calls, a blood oxygen sensor, and automatic syncing. The Gen 6 is also powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform instead of the 3100 chip in previous Fossil watch models.  Other specs of the Gen 6 watch include 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, a 1.28-inch color AMOLED watch face, two additional push buttons that are configurable, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, built-in GPS, and water-resistance at up to 98 feet.  You also can get various styles of straps for the Gen 6, including genuine leather, silicone, mesh, and stainless steel.  Gizmodo notes the watch won’t yet be compatible with the Wear OS 3 system (set to launch this fall) until at least mid-2022 and will instead work with the current Wear OS 2 version.  Smartwatches from brands like Fossil are about to get a major upgrade thanks to Google’s complete overhaul of its smartwatch operating system coming later this year. These improvements will include better battery life, 30% faster loading times for apps, and smoother animations. More customization options will also play a crucial part in how you use your Wear OS-powered smartwatch. In addition, the release of new tiles and personalization features will help bring that experience to users.
