The new announcement states that TikTok and Shopify are working together to make it easier to the buy products you see in TikTok videos. That, or make it easier for you to sell your products through your TikTok videos if you’re a creator. TikTok Shopping lets users with a Shopify store and TikTok For Business account create a special “Shopping” tab for their TikTok profile. This tab can then sync-up with their Shopify catalog and act as a storefront directly inside TikTok. In the announcement, Merchants will also be able to tag the products that appear in their TikTok videos with links that will take users directly to their storefront, ready for purchasing. When asked about bringing the TikTok Shopping pilot program to other countries on Twitter, Shopify stated that other regions are indeed planned. Users in Canada will be able to take part “in the coming weeks,” while the rollout will reach other areas over the next several months. “Creators are paving the way for a new kind of entrepreneurship where content, community, and commerce are key,” said Harley Finkelstein, President of Shopify in the announcement, “By enabling new in-app shopping experiences and product discovery on TikTok for the first time, Shopify is powering the creator economy on one of the fastest-growing social and entertainment platforms in the world.” The TikTok Shopping pilot test has already begun, but is still currently limited to the US and the UK for the time being. If you want to give TikTok Shopping a go, you can request a spot in the pilot program through Shopify’s own TikTok channel.
